Organ enthusiasts will meet for car-pooling to attend a 4:00 p.m.
recital played by John Behnke at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1236 South Layton Blvd.
in Milwaukee.
Dr. Behnke serves as the director of the Master of Church Music Program
at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, where he also teaches
organ and directs the Alleluia Ringers handbell choir. He received
his BA from Concordia-River Forest, and master's and doctorate degrees
in music from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Dr. Behnke also
completed the "Exam in Organ" program at the Westphalian Church
Music Institute in Herford, Germany.
With over 100 compositions in print with ten publishers in the
United States, Taiwan and Germany, he is a
well-known composer, teacher, organist and handbell clinician.
The recital is a joint effort by the Milwaukee Chapter AGO, and Ascension
Lutheran Church, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The
program will also include a newly-commissioned work.
If those car-pooling to the concert are in agreement, the group will go
someplace for dinner following the recital.
