Hands-On Encounter
Saturday, February 2, 2002
Designed for youthful pianists and beginning organists of middle school
to college age, this annual Saturday event began at UW-Madison and
incorporated the three pipe organs at nearby Luther Memorial Church
as well.

After viewing the video, The Organist--A Total Musician,
participants toured the Austin organ in Eastman Hall of the UW
Humanities Building, followed by a demonstration of the
"smorgasbord" of sounds the organ offers. Following lunch, there
were demonstrations and exploration time on the three pipe organs at
Luther Memorial Church.
Linda Krueger, ACM Education Coordinator, and Don DonBruin, ACM
Vice-President and Program Committee Chair, co-coordinated the event.
The future of tomorrow's supply of organists is dependent on today's
young keyboard musicians. This annual event is
ACM's primary outreach to tomorrow's organists.
